Update; Stairs Completed!

Fr. Matt walks up the newly laid stairs leading from the basement to the "South Entrance."

Inside the entrance and on the landings, you'll find new carpet. (As always, click on the photos for large versions.)

More Work on the second Spire

Roofers continue to remove the old decking and replace it with new metal. This photo shows the open part of the spire. If you click on the photo to see an enlarged version, you can see the men inside the spire.

Workers wait atop the scaffolding for more building materials to come up.

Despite the sun, the temperature is 26 degrees.

New Stairs in the South Entrance

The new lift chair/platform is helping to make the Cathedral a handicapped-accessible facility.

Between the removal of the old system, the use of the interim solution, and the new platform, the carpet and the stairs need some attention. In fact, the carpet has been long due for replacement. Today, the stairs and the previously-carpeted areas are bare.

You will see the installation of the new covers for the stairs and the new carpet either this weekend or next weekend.

Second Spire receives Decking

The second "little" spire is beginning its renovation. It will soon match its shiny counterpart. The roofing company will continue to use the scaffolding beside the first tower to bring the decking materials into the Cathedral's attic.

Decking on the First Spire nears completion

The roofers have worked their way up to the top of the first of the small spires. All the old wood and aluminum are gone.

We'll see similar activity in the second small spire soon.
